Chanel has revealed that its next Métiers d’Art showcase will be held in Hangzhou, China. The runway event, set in the picturesque city often referred to as Paradise on Earth, reflects the brand’s ongoing dedication to its Chinese clientele. This marks the first Métiers d’Art collection to be presented in the region since 2009, following last year’s display in Manchester.
Hangzhou, known for its temples, pagodas, and lush gardens, was chosen for its connection to the Coromandel lacquer screens found in founder Gabrielle “Coco” Chanel’s Paris apartment. According to the brand’s president of fashion, the city’s unique atmosphere inspired the Métiers d’Art collection. He highlighted the intriguing history behind these screens and noted that Hangzhou’s mysterious ambiance made it an exceptional and unique choice for the showcase.
This upcoming event will celebrate the extraordinary craftsmanship of Chanel’s ateliers and is poised to be a remarkable and unforgettable occasion.
