David Koma Takes the Helm as Creative Director of Blumarine

David Koma has been named the new creative director of Blumarine. The Georgian-born designer, who runs his own label from London, will debut his first collection for the Italian brand with the pre-fall 2025 season. This appointment comes after the quick exit of the previous creative director in March, who left after just one season.

“Blumarine represents a unique combination of sensuality, timeless glamour, and elegance that I have always admired. It’s a privilege to be part of the next chapter in the brand’s remarkable history,” Koma expressed. “I look forward to celebrating Blumarine’s rich creative heritage while bringing my own modern perspective. The brand’s feminine aesthetic strongly resonates with me, making this journey feel deeply authentic. I am excited to create collections that will inspire and captivate our audience, marking a new era of innovation and creativity at this prestigious house.”

Koma, renowned for his red carpet designs and close connections with celebrities, is expected to revive the high-octane glamour that has been a hallmark of Blumarine. With his own label already supported by a loyal following of bold women and men, especially since the launch of his menswear line, his design approach aligns seamlessly with the Italian brand’s style. After graduating from Central Saint Martins with an MA in design, Koma served as creative director at Mugler from 2014 to 2017, making this new role a fitting progression in his career.
