Lanvin has appointed Peter Copping as its new artistic director

A British national, Copping is a graduate of Central Saint Martins and the Royal College of Art in London. He began his career at Sonia Rykiel and later worked with Marc Jacobs at Louis Vuitton as the head of womenswear. After leaving Louis Vuitton, Copping served as the creative director of Nina Ricci before becoming the successor of Oscar de la Renta. Most recently, he led couture, VIP, and special projects at Balenciaga.

Copping stated, “Jeanne Lanvin was a visionary whose interests extended far beyond fashion, much like my own. I am extremely honored to have been chosen as artistic director of Lanvin and to collaborate with the atelier and teams to write the next chapter for this iconic house.”

Lanvin’s deputy CEO Siddhartha Shukla remarked, “Copping’s arrival at Lanvin is a significant milestone in the renaissance of one of the great French maisons. I am confident that with Peter’s vision and technical expertise, along with the dedication of our teams globally, we will chart a new course in fashion and achieve both beauty and success.”

Following Bruno Sialelli’s departure in April 2023, Copping’s appointment signals a new era for one of France’s oldest couture houses. With his extensive experience, Copping is set to lead both womenswear and menswear collections, starting in September 2024.
