My skin gets extremely dry, especially in the winter. It often becomes painfully dry and itchy. Nobody enjoys having dry skin, and I find myself using various types of lotions to relieve the dryness. Allergies make choosing lotions difficult for me, as I often find them heavily scented, which bothers me. So, based on my experience, I’ve compiled some tips to help relieve winter skin dryness.
Tips for Relieving Winter Skin Dryness
1. Stay Hydrated – I’ve found that the less dehydrated I am, the less dry my skin becomes. It makes sense, right?
2. Avoid Skin Irritants – Different seasons bring different things that can dry out your skin. For me, I’ve found wool to be one of these things, and I find it very itchy. So, I avoid it.
3. Avoid Hot Showers – Hot showers may feel great, but they’re not great for my skin. I’ve found that the longer I spend in a hot shower, the itchier and drier my skin gets afterward.
4. Use Body Scrubs – Body scrubs help to exfoliate dead skin cells, leaving skin softer and healthier. I recommend choosing products that don’t have strong scents. We often make our own body scrubs so we know what’s in them.
5. Use Quality Lotions – Personally, I like Vaseline’s Intensive Care range. My two personal favorites are the Vaseline Intensive Care Cocoa Radiant lotion, which contains pure cocoa butter, and the Vaseline Intensive Care Aloe Soothe lotion. Both lotions are thick and luxurious, with amazing scents. They leave my skin feeling smooth, moisturized, and smelling like I’m on the beach – which is exactly what I love.
