If you’re a shorter guy, finding well-fitting winter wear can be a challenge. Most standard jackets, like parkas and quilted vests, and even year-round staples like jeans and henleys, are designed for guys with longer limbs, torso, or both!
For years, I’ve recommended Peter Manning as one of the best options for shorter guys—quality clothing that’s actually made to fit smaller frames.
So, for my shorter gents out there: yes, you can stay warm and stylish this (and every) winter. Just steer clear of oversized styles and too much fabric, and use these four clothing ideas to refresh your business-casual winter wardrobe.
Everyday Layers
This is a go-to outfit for daily wear. Starting with navy blue twill cotton trousers and a heather gray tee, you can mix and match almost any other mid-layer and outerwear combo. For this, I’m keeping it “menswear neutral” and pairing with light tan-brown and olive green.
Errands Run
For a more sporty, athleisure look, try this out. I’m matching Peter Manning’s olive green work pants with a clean white henley. Then I’m picturing throwing on a red vest over the henley, followed by a flannel shirt as the outermost layer of jacket. And finally, a scarf to add warmth (and style points).
Assuming it’s not too cold outside, these layers might suffice. But if the weather is particularly chilly, you might need to add a parka—I’ve added one in outfit 4 below.
Monochromatic Business Casual
Need to dress up a bit more? Dark straight-leg jeans are always a safe bet, along with a black watch plaid button-down shirt, a V-neck sweater (navy blue in this case), and a warm leather jacket.
This outfit is perfect for a business-casual office, after-work drinks with colleagues, or a casual dinner date.
Cozy Loungewear
When it’s time to unwind indoors, Peter Manning also has you covered with comfortable clothing that spares you the extra bulk and material. Pair these clean joggers with a matching black henley or T-shirt, and a vintage-style heather gray crew neck sweatshirt.
Need to run out for pizza for the family? Or grab a couple bottles of red from the grocery store? No need to change; your sweats look sharp because they fit so well.
But, we don’t want you freezing, so layer up with the red down vest and black parka before heading out to brave the elements. You’re good to go!
